MACH 3.3

DESIGNED AT THE EDGE OF POSSIBILITY

MACH 3.3

What can we learn from an object engineered to operate at the very limits of possibility?

MACH 3.3 began with the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird — one of the most extraordinary aircraft ever created. Designed for strategic reconnaissance at extreme altitude and speed, the Blackbird was capable of travelling at more than three times the speed of sound, with its uncompromising form determined by function, material and performance.

For RÆBURN, the fascination extended beyond the aircraft itself. Research into the Blackbird, its flight suits, protective equipment and supporting systems became the starting point for a collection exploring speed, protection, utility and material innovation.

The resulting palette was deliberately restrained: black, white and grey, punctuated by the colours and markings of original technical equipment. Imagery of a decaying SR-71 was abstracted into graphics across the collection, transforming an icon of technological progress into something more fragmented and unexpected.

But MACH 3.3 wasn't simply about looking backwards at an extraordinary piece of engineering. It was about asking what that same spirit of experimentation could mean for the future of design.

MATERIALS IN MOTION

At the heart of MACH 3.3 was a meeting of RÆMADE experimentation and responsible material innovation.

Original military parachutes were transformed into new garments, alongside Air Brake parachutes originally engineered to rapidly decelerate fast jets. Their lightweight construction, extraordinary volume and inherent functionality became material for sculptural pieces that retained the evidence and intelligence of their previous lives.

Alongside these RÆMADE pieces, recycled, organic cotton and wood-based materials allowed the same responsible principles to extend across a broader wardrobe of outerwear, protective layers, hoodies, sweats, shorts and jersey.

Menswear and womenswear appeared together, allowing materials, proportions and ideas to move freely between the two. Experimental pieces sat alongside more familiar, wearable products, demonstrating that radical thinking and everyday utility didn't need to exist separately.

The collection became a conversation between extremes: speed and stillness, protection and lightness, experimentation and wearability, past technology and future possibility.

THE FULL RÆBURN WORLD

Presented during Copenhagen Fashion Week, MACH 3.3 became an opportunity to bring together the different dimensions of RÆBURN within one environment.

Inside a raw concrete space, original parachute material was suspended between the structural columns, transforming the same material language explored within the collection into the architecture of the show itself. Guests moved through a world in which archive, material, product, installation and experience became interconnected.

On the runway, menswear and womenswear appeared together. RÆMADE one-of-one pieces existed alongside products developed through recycled and responsibly sourced materials. Technical research became silhouette, surface, graphics and function.

Everything belonged to the same world.
