During these challenging times, we’ve learnt to dig deeper into our material archive. Originally manufactured in a climate of fear and uncertainty, we’ve reimagined these original 1960's cold war navigation maps into a new source of function - from fear to beauty. First produced by the Royal Air Force in the event of conflict with the East, we’ve transformed 1 map into 6 items with zero waste. The only things we add are zips, thread, tape, grosgrain and cargo parachute material for strength.
As with our first ARTEFACT project, our intention with this is simple; we're only going to make the items that people need; only RÆMADE, only with zero waste. We have 10 original maps in total, enough to make 60 items. So once they're gone, they're gone.
