ARTEFACT I — DRAG BAG
ARTEFACT / April 11, 2020
The effects of Covid-19 are serious and will be long lasting. Now, more than ever, we need to consider our finite resources. When we're through the current challenges (and we will get through) we'll be facing a new environmental and inventory crisis - making more stuff won't help that. At RÆBURN we'll be focusing more than ever on our commitment to reduce our impact. The good news is we're starting now.
Before Covid-19 turned everything upside down we created four of these zero-waste bags; each one is crafted from one section of a hard wearing drag parachute. Absolutely nothing is left, and the only thing we add is our iconic RÆBURN recycled tape, recycled labels, closure snaps and thread. That's it.
Our intention with this project is simple; we're only going to make the bags that people need; nothing new, only RÆMADE, only with zero waste.
We want to use our current unique situation to test, learn and react and take those findings to work towards a better future.
Our head seamstress Zory has been with RÆBURN for nearly ten years, she's our master of RÆMADE with a fastidious eye on quality. Of course Zory is now at home, like all of us. Let's not let that stop us. With an industrial machine at home Zory will make these bags through Covid-19; each will be unique, handcrafted and part of a radical new way for RÆBURN to work - entirely made to order.
Please note that this project is now sold out.
You can pre-order these bags now and we'll get them made, ready for when we're all through Covid-19. We have ten original drag parachutes, enough to make forty zero waste bags and once they're gone, they're gone.
This project kicks off a radical shift in our way of thinking and making. RÆBURN has always prioritised actions over words and this will be no different. Stay tuned for further announcements.
