Experienced Production Sewing Machinist / Seamstress (Part Time)

We are seeking a highly experienced production sewing machinist/seamstress to work in our studio atelier. We need talented, dynamic and creative people with a 'can do attitude’ to take a lead and join us on our exciting journey. You must be a highly motivated and organised individual with knowledge and understanding of patterns as well as precision, accurate sewing and garment construction from start to finish. You must be confident working independently and to agreed deadlines. You’ll need to be friendly and used to communicating updates and working as part of the team. The role is very varied as we make a large variety of garments across men’s, women’s and accessories. Availability to work on weekends (during busy periods and as required by the business).


  • Sewing sample and production garments to a high standard ensuring that products are made to the highest quality at all times
  • undertake other sewing as may be requested from time to time
  • Work with designers and pattern cutters on production of first samples, interpreting patterns and spec sheets
  • Cutting & sewing toile garments of first patterns
  • Reporting on pattern issues
  • Fabric cutting, labelling, pressing and steaming
  • Conduct fittings and alter garments
  • Mentoring/managing junior members of the team, which includes long-term internships if needed
  • Measuring and grading of garments as required
  • Measuring & fitting of private clients
  • Alterations & fixing of QC issues


  • Experience of at least 2-4 years as a machinist or seamstress is required
  • Good understanding of written and spoken English
  • Proven ability of managing internal relationships and communications
  • Thorough knowledge of sewing techniques (including hand sewing), garment design, construction and the manufacturing process
  • Previous experience in creating full garments following only patterns and a sample
  • Fast sewing skills while maintaining precision, accuracy and high-quality products
  • Experience in using industrial flat- bed machines and overlockers
  • Exceptional organisational skills in order to manage workloads and time-pressures effectively to meet deadlines
  • Ability to assist customers and conduct fittings


You will be based in the company HQ; Studio 1, The Textile Building, 29a Chatham Place, Hackney, London, E9 6NY, United Kingdom


Part Time (2 days per week, 09:00 – 18:00), Saturday and Sunday's preferable.
